Erasmus+ International Youth Exchange held in UK

‘Way to Well-being’ Youth Exchange took place in in the Village of Forest Green near Dorking, England from 12 to 18 April 2023. The seven-day event, co-funded by the European Union, was hosted by a London-based non-profit organisation, Dragon Eggs Digital CIC.

The international event was attended by 36 young people and youth leaders, representing organisations from 6 countries; Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Lithuania, Croatia and the UK. We are delighted to announce that Stichting Drawing to Health sent a group of 4 participants from The Netherlands.

The event was a rare opportunity to join an Erasmus+ well-being focused youth exchange programme set in the English woodlands, in an area known for its outstanding natural beauty.
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, the youth exchange offered a learning experience for young people where they explored the 5 steps to mental wellbeing; ‘connect’, ‘get active’, ‘take notice’, ‘learn’, and ‘give’.

During the week the participants had an opportunity to spend a day hiking in the woodlands and climb Leith Hill – a UK National Trust site and the second highest point in southeast England – offering spectacular and extensive views of the English countryside.

Other highlights also included a bon-fire night, spectacular curries and a tiramisu made by some of the participants, excellent and well-prepared cultural presentations by all teams, games, among other activities.

The activity week tested individuals’ digital video skills and also excelled their leadership, managerial, teamwork and organisational skills as each individual played a role in the management of the co-living spaces, teams and activities, while enjoying the magical outdoor spaces in Forest Green.
The activity was carried out using non-formal and informal education teaching methods and was hosted in a family-style environment to help the participants feel more at home.
